I can't wait for one of my idols, Idina Menzel, to perform 'Let It Go' from Frozen.  She's has one of the most bad ass voices ever.

How cool is this print of all of the Best Actress Winner gowns?  There are some iconic gowns on this.  Grace Kelly in her beautiful blue gown by acclaimed costume designer Edith Head!  Cher in Bob Mackie!  Gwyneth in the bubblegum Ralph Lauren!   Hilary Swank in the backless Guy Laroche!  What was your favorite gown??

Who would have thunk it??
Did you know...
-Animator and producer Walt Disney has scooped the most Oscars in the 86-year-long history, winning 26 gongs and being nominated for an impressive 59 awards.  This year's Frozen – released by Walt Disney Pictures and in the running for best Animated Feature Film and best Original Song for Let It Go – could see the movie mogul's legacy once again cemented.

-Oscar winners don't really own their statues. Winners must sign an agreement stating that should they wish to sell their statuettes, they must first offer them to the Academy for $1.

-Colin Firth's historical hit The King's Speech may have led the film pack last year, with 12 Academy Award nods, but the most nominated movies of all time both garnered a whopping
14 nominations. First up was black and white film All About Eve in 1950, matched nearly 50 years later by Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio tear-fest, Titanic. (VIA)

-Each gold-plated Oscar award costs $500 to make, and weighs around 8 and a half pounds. During World War II the glittering gold versions were shelved, and replaced with plaster replicas to mark the country's war effort. (VIA)

Last but not least...my wishlist for the red carpet this year, straight from the runways of NYC and Paris.  Cheers!

monogram monday

Monday, February 24, 2014

I have been noticing the prettiest, unique (or 'couture' as the paperie world calls them) monograms on wedding stationary recently and then saw THIS glass with the vinyl version over on Dixie Delights and knew I HAD to have the font for my collection.

I can't wait to try it out for possibly newborn baby stationary or using my Silhouette Machine to make vinyl decals for wine glasses.  What would you use it for???

Super excited for the premier of The Amazing Race: All-Stars on Sunday as well as the Daytona 500.  We are pulling for the cowboys (again) on AR and I'm all about Team (Austin) Dillon racing and the return of the #3 car.

I started back to boot camp this week and am feeling the effects.  I have really enjoyed this group and would very much recommend it to anyone in the Charleston area.  Its called Charleston Fat Blasting Boot Camp and is run by Kindal and Dan Boyle.  They recently opened a studio in Goose Creek but have morning and evening classes all over the Tri-County area.  It definitely kicks my butt but I feel so good afterwards.  The classes are small (11-12 women), one hour, with 5 minutes of stretching on each end of the work out, so burning calories for a full 50 minutes.  Every class is different so do you do not get bored and you burn anywhere from 600-800 calories depending on how hard you push yourself.  I go to the Tuesday-Thursday evening class in West Ashley which Kindal and Dan actually teach themselves.  Kindal also has a wonderful and inspirational blog, Lifting Revolution.  Check them out!

I'm checking out Ms. Roses for brunch on Sunday with some girlfriends (and a baby!).  I have never been there and am looking forward to it.  Any brunch item recs??

I want to ask y'all to lift a friend, Anna, up in prayer.  I met Anna and her then boyfriend Matt in Murrells Inlet through an old boyfriend about 8 years ago.  They were always the nicest to me and always included me in the fun times in the Inlet!  Anna and Matt are now married and have two little boys.  Anna was diagnosed with PMBCL, a form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, just over a year ago.  She went through chemo, and finished in July with a positive report from the doctors.  Over Christmas a PET scan showed the cancer had possibly reared its ugly head again.  Anna and Matt have been in Houston this week at MD Anderson for further testing and unfortunately have learned that the cancer has returned and has increased in activity.  Please join me in praying for them and their families as they deal with 'whats next?'  #teamanna

Linking up!!

thankful thursday

Thursday, February 20, 2014

Let's be honest, its the little things in life that help keep you going.  For instance, today I'm very thankful for Revlon ColorStay Under Eye Concealer.  This stuff is a game changer.  We are talking black circles to bright eyed and bushy tailed.  I attempted to get some before and after pics this morning but the lighting was not cooperating so trust me on this one and give it a try!  Sidenote: I use the light/medium shade and its typically the least expensive at Walmart ($8ish).

STORY THAT YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS TELLS ABOUT YOU?
When I was about five years old we were in Virginia at my grandparents house, on the Chesapeake Bay, and I had just finished dinner.  It was a well known rule that we could not get dessert (chocolate Popsicle) until we had eaten all of our food.  Well, I had not finished my food but instead put the remaining food in the trash can.  When my grandfather asked me if I had cleaned my plate, I said yes.  My sweet cousin Kari kindly added...'she cleaned it into the trash can!'  This story never fails to come up EVERY TIME we are in Virginia.

HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH?
Anywhere with those nearest and dearest to me...preferably on the water...quite possibly at my grandparents in Virginia.

weekend snapshots

Monday, February 17, 2014

Our weekend was nothing monumental but honestly its what I needed.  After having the flu (thanks Chris) and then working all of last weekend it was nice on Friday to be able to leave the office and not bring any work home with me.

Friday night I made a quick stop at EarthFare to pick up some craft beer for Chris' V-day gift (Coast HopArt and Avery Brewing Company IPA) and to drop off a valentine for our goddaughter EEA.  Chris was too sweet to make steak on the Big Green Egg and potatoes for Valentine's Dinner.  Too bad I was nursing a soon to be migraine.  I ate dinner as fast as I could, took a shower, and was in bed by 8pm. VERY exciting Valentine's Day for the Reynolds.

Saturday we slept in.  Until 10am (what??!!).  We ran the obligatory weekend errands (oil change, Target, Lowes) and finally hung our new mirror in the dining room.  I got this beauty on clearance at HomeGoods in Mt. P.  The newish chandelier was bought at the Pottery Barn Outlet Day after Thanksgiving Sale (marked down to $60!!).

We had a yummy dinner at Sesame with the Brewers and the Halls and then Chris binge watched Breaking Bad while I binge watched The Crazy Ones (LOVE that show!).

Sunday we slept in again (meant to go to church...oops) and then started to tackle the disaster area that is our third floor.  We are in the process of moving our second floor guestroom up there and then making the second floor bedroom an office/craft room (more to come on that!).  While throwing away massive amounts of junk we came across this box which I about died from.  Straight.Out.Of.Chris'.Hippie.Years.  Yes, those are rock crystals.  And a tapestry.

Chris went to work Sunday afternoon and I did our taxes.  Last year we came out even, and thank the good Lord we are in the positive this year.  For anyone else doing their own taxes, for some reason we get more back when we file married but separate.  Try it for yourself before you file!  (Also like TurboTax Deluxe online and H&R Block Deluxe Software from Amazon).

After taxes I finally got up the nerve and will power to do my first blog post in a year and upload some designs to love, raleigh {creative} on etsy.  I am so thrilled to have over 100 views on my listings so far!  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!  We get to meet baby Lane on Wednesday!

reinventing the wheel

Sunday, February 16, 2014

Its been 357 days since I last wrote a blog post.  Yikes.  A lot has changed.  New blog name, new job (same company), and new outlook on life... However not TOO much has changed.  Still have an amazing husband, two loving furry children, the best family and friends a girl could ask for, still obsessed with monograms and my cat, and still loving life in Charleston.

I have felt compelled to restart a blog for many reasons.  One of many, I've evolved in my graphic design and monogramming skills and want to try and make something of it.  I want to showcase our life in Charleston, and all of the blessings that come with it.  I also REALLY need an outlet for something other than WORK.  I'm not sure yet if this will be a daily or couple of days a week thing (still figuring it all out) but would love for you to follow along with me, whether it be here or via Facebook, Instagram, and/or Pinterest (see sidebar) or visit the Love, Raleigh Creative Etsy Shop.

For today I want to leave you with this new love, raleigh printable available for instant download or customized (to include a name).  This sweet boy was born this past week to some incredible new parents! Chris (oh yes, the hubs gets a name now) and I are thrilled for them!
